steevc just finished a 7.13km run, that lasted for 44 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 516.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
The weather has changed a bit with heavy rain yesterday. Today started quite grey and a little cooler. There was a bit of a headwind as I jogged up the road.

You will see from the picture that my path was blocked up at Fairfield. There was space to get around it though. I think the ivy can weigh down a tree and catch the wind. One in our garden blew down a couple of years back.

Apart from that it was an undramatic outing, but I still feel a bit sluggish. I just need to keep up my routine of getting out there to build up my fitness.

There was an old guy out there getting his exercise. He may not be quick, but at least he is active. I also surprised a dog that came my way just as I hurdled a small fence. No harm was done.

This is a WFH day so I have the time to run before I start. I do wonder if they will ever want us back in the office full time, but I will enjoy this anyway. My commute is not too bad, but it makes for less rush in the morning.

Run free and stay well.

Work from home makes it easier to squeeze a lot more in. But some days I forget to get dressed! LOL

great run as well, I guess the heatwave is finally over?

I do try to get dressed even though there is no webcam on the work laptop. I think we are heading for autumn now and that suits me when it comes to running. We just may not be using the pool any more this year.

I'm looking forward to running this season coming up and to step it up, as we'll be kayaking less often. I love the dropping leaves and musky air.

That's pretty good. I freelance so im pretty much at home. On the day I do the school run or have an early workout, I'm pretty much dressed. Other times I'm like its mid-day, i should shower LOL

Autumn and spring are great seasons to run yeah - our winter is not wanting to end yet. Can't wait for those beach days.

It's windy over here in Berkshire this morning, quite a contrast to when I went out for a jog yesterday evening. I managed a little walk around the block this morning amongst other chores and prepping for the day's work. I was supposed to be in the office today but totally forgot to book a desk last week... they don't mind, as I am fully remote and like us to go in from time to time. My commute is from Reading to Paddington, Elizabeth Line to Liverpool Street. I need someone to run me to the station, as we live outside of the town in a small village. So it's much easier to WFH!!!

My commute is not too bad. It's about 40 mins door to door with no driving. Much better than my 90 min drive into London with the last job. I only go in twice most weeks anyway. I do think there are benefits to actually seeing people face to face.

My company have also set aside two days in a week for staffs to work from home and I am really enjoying it, because it relieves me of so much stress.
We have been experiencing great downpour here and it has affected my period of jogging but i usually engage in other form of exercises at home like squatting and the likes.

I think it gives a better work/life balance. Obviously it is not viable for every job, but it may help reduce road traffic so others can get there quicker.

Nice run there steevc :) very nice distance too. the weather is getting bad here in Norfolk too, Very windy today but A new department store has opened in town with A new "outlet" version of sports direct there too, nothing to special but apparently, there is A floor dedicated to runners with 3D printing of running shoes available. Well, that's what the local news reports, I will find out for myself on my visit to town today.

The wind has got up and I need to keep an eye on things in the garden.

I'd be interested to know what company is 3d printing shoes. I have seen some of the companies using it in production. There is potential for custom fitted shoes. I just tend to buy shoes that I trust to be okay.

We've been having some pretty amazing weather lately. Warm during the day and nice and cool at night so you can sleep with the windows open. It has been great. I haven't had to run my heat or A/C for several weeks now!

That's great, but I guess it won't last. I can't really complain about our climate. I just wonder if we will get more extreme weather events in future.

I think we will. They are saying it is all cyclical though, so this isn't anything that hasn't happened before. It's just that the Earth is more populated now.

There are cycles, but we could be speeding them up and getting into uncharted territory. We can't pretend there are no consequences to what we do.

I don't disagree with you, I just know that there are differing opinions on the whole thing and since none of us were around millennia ago, we don't really know. I agree with the science, but it isn't absolute.

Well we do know a lot from things like ice cores that can tell us CO2 levels. That is one factor, but we are poisoning the air, water and soil with plastics and various chemicals. We are also driving many species to extinction.

I believe a lot of the 'uncertainty' is driven by those with a financial interest in business as usual. It's similar to what big tobacco did about hiding the risks. The same people sow distrust in science and the established media to control the agenda. I guess you can say this a conspiracy theory about conspiracy theories :)

This was only knee high. The alternative is a gate, so I can keep going.

It was easier to get around it on foot, but there is another path anyway.

Yes, that's a proper surfaced footpath. It's not so easy deep in the forest on the single tracks! 🚴

This route doesn't get properly into the wilds. There are some woodland tracks nearby, but I need to watch my step when running.

I wonder how many calories I burn on my walks. I need to start measuring. I also may start jogging a little now. I'm light enough now not to hurt my knees much :)

I suppose the council will come remove the tree? Or is it private land? I wonder what they do with those, probably just grind them up.

There should be something on your phone that can track your activity.

The tree should get cleared soon. There's another way through there anyway.

As a person gets older, walking is bound to be a problem, but the way you keep this jorney is much better for your health.
