Morning Run: Sun and ice

I just finished a 14.02km running that lasted about 1hh:20mm:52ss !

I slept in a little longer than I might have wanted, so had some breakfast before my run. It was pretty cold out again, but sunny after the rain yesterday. The paths were frosty in the shade and felt a bit slippery.

I wanted to do a long run and hope to do a lot more this year to build my stamina. I went up to Fairfield, but stayed on the paths by the streets rather than going around the outside. Then I headed out on the long straight towards Letchworth. That goes up and down a bit. There is a house that looks like it has been empty for a while along there, but it is being done up now.

I crossed the road to pick up the Greenway around Standalone Farm. That was muddy in places and my Allbirds shoes do not have much tread. Coming out on Wilbury Road there are more hills to tackle and I did walk a bit. Along there I pass what is supposed to be the first concrete house in the country, but I was not stopping to take photos. Further along in Norton I passed a guy carrying his football boots as a mass of cyclists went past. Lots of people will be out for their exercise on a nice morning like this.

I decided Radwell Meadows would probably be muddy and so stayed by the road all the way to Stotfold. It was quiet along there as it was generally on this run, but I did see a few runners.

I must have run through Stotfold hundreds of times, but then there are limited routes around here. It is always nice to know you are nearly home.

The pace was not too bad today, but I was just going with what felt comfortable. My right foot was hurting a bit, so I need to monitor that. I want to do more half marathons over the year and look at extending the distances beyond that. For things like parkrun I want to go quicker, but for longer distances I am less worried about speed.

I had another stroopwafel with my coffee afterwards. I am not sure if I burn off enough calories to cancel it out, but I will not worry about that.

Run free and stay well.

Nice run! Are you training for something specific or just for fun? Also, where did you get those stroopwaffles? You aren’t living in the Netherlands are you?

It's mostly for fun and fitness, but I will enter some events.

I think the stroopwafels came from the Aldi supermarket. They were a Christmas gift.

That's nice! Good to see Stroopwafels are making their way into the world! THey are awesome when you need energy quick. And the way you put them on your cup is pro-level-usage :-)

Happy running!

We've had them in the Netherlands too. Happy to embrace tasty treats from around the world.

Funny, I can tell a long run just from the thumbnail! Good effort, do watch that foot!

TEACAKES! I've not had a proper teacake in years. Probably a good thing as I think I'd manage to get through an entire packet.

Stroopwaffles are a new one on me.

I'd hoped to get out for a run this morning but I went to bed far too late last night to get up on time. That and it was jolly cold out this morning. I've not been out often but have enjoyed my recent plods so will hopefully still make it out a few times this week. I miss not being able to run over lunch; mornings during the week seem to be a struggle, maybe I should try evenings before tea.

My other half like teacakes. I'm not so fussed about them. You should get some stroopwafels though. Aldi or Lidl have them I think.

I hope to run tomorrow morning. Got the odd ache, but not too bad.

How's the drumming coming along?

We have a Lidl in the village so I'll have to go take a look.

I've not practiced recently as I started to twitch with how messy the living room was with it all set up. The kid it currently folded away in the kid's playroom until we make space for a permanent home. To be honest getting it all unfolded and setup takes minutes so I may have a sneaky plan one lunchtime this week 😋

(Edited)

Great habit to get into running, I have been threatening to get back into it myself for quite a while, I must just bite the bullet and do it, as the benefits are so many... Good job you didn't slip on the slippery paths, that'd be all you need!! Decent time as well by the way.

It has to become a habit to get out all year, but I do enjoy it in a way.
