Morning Run - Lap record

I just finished a 6.864km running that lasted about 0hh:38mm:37ss !

We're still getting lots of rain, but it held off for today's run. I was back up to Fairfield for another lap. That involves 2km before I get to the start of the loop around the estate. I was not really thinking of going for a fast time, but it went well anyway.

I did not see many runners, but lots of dog walkers and some squirrels. The start of the lap is uphill and then down towards the road where I always seem to find some speed. There is only one real road to cross and I need to watch out for cars as that is the main way in and out of the estate.

The hill at the far corner is always a killer. It is about a 10m climb over about 250m. That may not sound too bad, but running on tired legs it is tough. I was flagging by the time I reached the peak, but then it is mostly downhill apart from a little climb right at the end.

I took it steady back down West Drive and along the main road to home.

I checked the stats when I got home and was pleasantly surprised to see I took 29s off my time for the loop. I am quickest for my age group and 50th overall. There is potential to move up a few places.

I can be happy with that run. There is uncertainty over when parkrun will restart as they need to get permission from landowners. I can still do my own personal challenges.

Run free and stay well.

It's just been wet here lately. Really came down heavy yesterday lunchtime. Predicted to rain again today. The garden is going crazy with all this water.

Same here. At this point, I just prefer staying indoors.

Well done you! it was only a few weeks back you seemed a little disheartened and complained you were slowing down! Life in the old dog yet ;-)
Best wishes and enjoy the new found liberties with caution :-)

Cheers. It seems there is still life in old dog, as they say. My legs are feeling better lately and the regular runs do pay off. Results like this give me hope.

I'm not rushing to get into crowds any time soon. I think we may see more restrictions soon, especially if people take chances.

Nice job on your run! I just saw an article this morning about fartleks. I didn't read it, but I thought of you when I saw the headline. It has been a very dry Spring for us so far. It's not often that I wish for rain, but a little bit would be nice for the garden.

It was a fairly dry winter, so I expect farmers and some others will appreciate the rain. Our garden is so green now with the grass sprouting up.

I do some fartlek at times. It's just improvising sprints instead of doing them at fixed points. Mixing up fast and slower running is supposed to improve fitness.

I've got hidden reserves, but can't always find them. Having some good runs lately that boost my spirits. I'm never going to be super quick, but I enjoy these achievements.
