SportsTalkSocial: Revamp Community

image.png

As I am a persistent person, I investigated a little deeper and concluded what I was most afraid of.

Its creator has abandoned this community.

As we can see, he no longer has which SPORTS, he sold all his SPORTS 7 months ago.

But isn't he the one wanting to decentralize power?

I recently saw the STEM account unstake and want to decentralize the holders, but he didn't sell the tokens, creating selling pressure.
It sent the tokens to null.

In Patrick's case, he clearly didn't think about decentralization, he just wanted to put some more money in his pocket without wanting to know what would happen to the community.

Now we have a community where the creator abandoned it and doesn't want to know more about it, since only he has access to the domain's hosting, and only he has the private keys of the community accounts.

If he wants now, we can do without our frontend, he just has to stop renewing it, without the discord channel and of course without the community funds.

Is this so-called decentralization?

I don't think this is the model in which a community should be created and managed.

If we want to have/be a real community involved with sport, we need to take some actions.

In my opinion there are two possibilities: try to “correct” what is wrong in this community or start a community about sport from scratch where we will not make the mistakes made here.

For any of the options, I already find myself gaining knowledge so that we can move on to one of the decided options.

Regardless of the community's decision, to continue or create a new community, this clearly demonstrated that a community cannot be fully decentralized before reaching an enormous degree of maturity. That's why I think a structure should be created that would be responsible for the community.

In this way, we guarantee that if any of the elements were absent for whatever reason, the community could continue without any problem.

Community Structure

I think that two separate “entities” could be created, one that would be the people who would handle the hosting and domain of the community, would have access to the keys of the community accounts, and they would be the ones to guarantee that there were no abuses in relation to the community token and the another entity wanted a sort of round table where community issues would be discussed and decisions taken together.

I have not talked with anyone about this but @blanchy, @talesfrmthecrypt, @cryptoandcoffee and @niallon11 are people that are active on our community and I will love to have in the community structure.

What is your opinion about this?

The Roadmap I thought would be the following:

  • create new community accounts;
  • move all assets from the current accounts to the new accounts (I'm already studying how the current DAO works so that this can be done);
  • there is a new frontend in relation to our community where we would have advertisements to be another source of passive income for the community (in the image below you can see that I am already analyzing this situation);
  • create different passive income alternatives for the community;

image.png

Regarding the current DAO, there is a question that I still don't know how to do because I haven't found information on how to make a proposal to remove a delegation.

Does anyone know how to do it or if there is an ARCHON discord where I can clarify my doubt?
If yes, can you share the link with me, please?

What's your opinion?

As Sport holders, how would you like to advance?

Its creator has abandoned this community.

As we can see, he no longer has which SPORTS, he sold all his SPORTS 7 months ago.

That is really all you need to know, and he has the keys so regardless of any DAO he is the only one who can actually implement any changes on chain.

But we as community can do governance proposals to not let him to go away with everything or not?

If I understand correctly DAO operation we can move assets that are under governance account and start a fresh community where he is not the key holders right?

I think raise this issue with Hive-engine or hive community as sports token very unique asset and it must prevail. I saw many well reputed account in list so hope this issue solve through proper authority.

The only way I see this "solved" is if the founder gives over the keys voluntarily.

Hive Engine will not do anything since Patrick paid to create the token and community.

He has the accounts private Keys. So, he can do want he wants

The DAO code does not come from Hive-engine but from ARCHON, and it was set up to have decentralized voting on where the community would go and hosted by the founder, but all decicions on chain has to be verified with the keys to the accounts in question, so unless the DAO itself has been given Active Authority to those accounts, or other individuals have multisig access to the Active Authority it is only superficial and does not change anything on chain.

The DAO would basically be Layer 3 here.

There is any way to see if th DAO has the active keys?

0

I have not dug that deep into it's operations, what I do know is that it's a centralized Layer 3 on top of Hive-engine run by the founder, it's not really any different from a tipping bot in that perspective.

This means that the idea that decentralization and DAO's were going around never existed.

I'm used to DAO's where they run the code given to them and thus are truly decentralized because no one has to “approve” the transactions of proposals that have already been voted on and approved.

Do you happen to know where I can try to read and find out more about this DAO engine?

I have some doubts. First, I don't know precisely who is the founder of Sportstalksocial. Sportstalksocial was , first, an unofficial community with a tag, then with an own website and now with a community on Hive. But I don't know if the community owners are the same people behind the sportstalksocial.com website. The project Sportstalksocial isn't abandoned, because the website continues to work.

Anyway, I met problems on Hive and I stopped my journey here. I participate only with my little votes, so I can't give you a real feedback on the way to follow. At the same time, I will continue to join the project in this way if you will decide to migrate or to follow other ways. 😁

The community owner is/was @patrickulrich.

The website it is up maybe because the domain and server are paid annually. So, we have the risk that will be shutdown.

I will not decide anything alone.
I am trying to get the community making decisions.

If we have to start a new I guess tha is what we need to do. Have you tried t get in touch with the founder and see if he is willing to give up the keys??

I have not tried to get in touch with the founder because last time that I suggested to have a core team he was against it.

So, I don't think he will give up the keys.

Then I guess we start over lets make sure there is a team this time so we do not run into this kind of problem again.

Cant't do anything about key ownership. And I think Sportstalksocial is all a bit too messy, too many tokens printed, partnerships. A new sports community is the way to go

It is true we cannot do anything related with key ownership.

Let's keep open the possibility to start a new fresh sports community without all the mess that we have here.

Needs a new community. Build properly from day 1.
Learn from all of the other tribes and do it better this time with a solid team in charge and a good business plan.

I think this could be a good idea to start something new from scratch. I think having a team to creat something to unite the communityn at least having a core to the token and the front end should help to keep it solid !LUV

No problem, that's because I already thought this was too bad to see the users not kept together by anything. Everyone (including me) is using the token independently.

I think cinetv has something cool with the weekly contests and summary of good posts with cool engagement, that helps everyone to get in touch !PIZZA

I've had my say on this before.
I think that the project was badly built from day 1 and can't be fixed.

I think that a proper sports community could do very well with right team behind it and would be willing to get involved.

I know what is your opinion.

Maybe it will be this time that a new sports community will be born.

Thanks a lot to show willing to join if a new sports community born.

It would need to be built properly from day one with a good team and road map but if it is it could be very big.

A proper Web3 sports community. I'll keep an eye for now anyway and see where it goes from here.

Let me talk with other persons and see what we can conclude.

Create a new community have at least a cost of 6300 Bee and this is if in the begin we use the HE frontend

Is there any other way to build a website and link to hive without buying an outpost??
The sites they give out are not great and they need a lot of work after anyway to get proper websites like leofinance or travelfeed?

Is it possible to build a custom community and just launch a token afterwards on hive engine?

0

avatar

Talking about code it is possible to build a community website not using outpost but it will always take time to do a proper frontend ensuring that everything it is correctly working.

In my opinion maybe we will not have that concluded fastest enough.
When I said to start with outpost it was to be able to start the ads in the front end from day 1.

About create a costumo community without a token and afterwards launch a token I think that is possible at least I never heard anything saying the opossite.

When I said to start with outpost it was to be able to start the ads in the front end from day 1.

There were meant to be ads included with outposts as part of the package but they were never properly implemented. How much work would it be to add them manually to the outpost from day one?

If your serious about creating a project it might be worthwhile making a discord channel and inviting about 5-10 of us to see where the discussion goes.

I think that the people listed in the post are some good people to get started.

Since I have an It background and I am already looking to this with a friend mine that is also an hive user.

If you want you check here an outpost frontend running by us where we are doing testes to see how ads will be displayed

I have already though about creating a discord to everyone be able to discuss and see each opinion.

I will create a discord channel and contact each one to see if they want to join the group

I totally agree with this. I love Sports and I think that we have an undervalued community here. We are waiting for this moment. In fact, it's almost 4 months now and I haven't posted anything related to Sports. This could be a good come back.

What we really need is 4-6 people who want to create a real business of the sports community. Put in some money and draw up a real plan to build something cool and will follow it through for the next few years.

Have a plan.
Generate revenue.
Onboard new users.
Expand the offerings.

I'm more concerned about the tokenization. There has to be a clear plan for the tokens not to be exploited. Airdrops are very important too or at least Whitelisting. I wouldn't agree with the idea that Hive people should have the advantage of the airdrops (if there is). It should be fair to all. I'm happy to promote that if I see there's a solid project being built for Sports.

As for the failure of the Sports community, I have anticipated that already which is the reason why I stopped posting content related to Sports.

Any team would need to sit down together and draw up a clear plan for tokenomics and roadmaps. This would depend a lot on who is involved as there are a lot of different visions on how to operate this successfully.

But if they do build a new project it's up to everybody whether they want to take part or not. I didn't hold much hope for the current project since the day 1 exploit and then actifit spam. I tried to talk with patrick at the time but he was more interested in decentralizing the project rather than building a good business and user experience.

He did try but i think he was on the wrong path and tried to do it all by himself. He was offered help but never took it.

It's a pity but thats where we are now. The only question is where to go next.

But after this drama, this may be great to pave the way for a better project. We have the same sentiments, I lost hope in the community despite my love for Sports. It feels like I visit the site (Sportstalksocial) to get Sports earnings + possible ocd curation.

The very similar thing happened to @polish.hive community operator of which had cleared the account and abandoned the community and accounts. @jocieprosza approached her and received all the keys. The trust was lost, but the continuation of the project was easier than starting it anew. It's far from success story, but at least it operates and regained 500 HP

I can see that @patrickulrich has left the Discord channel and that must be a fairly recent move. However I'm guessing that the @sportstalksocial user which has admin responsibilities on the channel is probably his account too and is still there.

I'd suggest we can reach out to Patrick to see whether he has any interest in continuing to develop the community or not. If it's a no or we don't hear anything back then that only leaves one option...

I have already sent a message to @patrickulrich and to @sportstalksocial on Discord.

However, I am thinking to a thing to understand if we are able to do something's without need Patrick feedback.
