I posted last week, a picture of my spin bike and was planning a seperate post for each of my bikes as I couldn’t really decide on a favourite. Instead I decided to use my weekly training update as also my #mybike post. Besides my spin bike, I currently have three bikes that I use on regular rotation.

First of course is my Merida Scultura 100 which I have almost had for two years now. I have never had a Merida bike before and it has been pretty good. It is just an entry level road bike, but use it a lot for commuting and training and even do some racing with it occasionally. I got the bike brand new and had an issue with spokes on the back wheel snapping, and when it happened three times in about six months I took the bike back. Merida were happy to honour the warranty and rebuilt the back wheel as a result. It has been all good since then.

Next is my Canondale Slice Time Trial Bike, which is a 2016 model and got it for my very first Ironman Triathlon back in 2016. There are times that I don’t use it, but I have been trying my best to get on it regularly as I know that I race better when I am training on it as well. The bike was new and I got the Reynolds Wheels, second hand, from a close friend. He gave me a good deal on the wheels and I get a lot of attention from other riders as a result.

Lastly, I have my mountain bike. I have always wanted to do some off road triathlons, but have always struggled with mountain biking. This Bauer Karapoti Mountain Bike, is probably close to 40 years old and have done a great job commuting and doing training rides regularly. I actually didn't know Bauer made bikes, until I got this one. I have always been a big fan of their inline skates and ice skates, so thought it would be good and it is build like a tank. I got it second hand when I first moved to Auckland, about 6 years ago, and unfortunately I have not been using it too regularly lately. I really struggle on trails and am just worried about the safety aspect.

The Cannondale TT looks super fast, it must be those carbon wheels. Do you use the same shoes for all the bikes?

Actually I have a different set of shoes for each bike. Each have different sets of cleats so, it is just easier to have different shoes for each as well.

I don't know much about bikes, but I know they can get expensive. It's still down to the rider to win races though. Have fun out there.

Yeah you are right. If the engine is crap the bike still won't go fast.

It so funny to see how some overweight old men buy very expensive bicycles because they weigh two kilos less rather than eating less 😅

Cool bikes! Especially the cannondale.
I like it how the green detail from the merida frame is also in the saddle.

That mountainbike is quite old, but hey... if it aint broken... I know Bauer from the ice skates, but is that the same brand?

Thanks for sharing!

The Cannondale Slice Time Trial Bike looks like a beast, Vince! Would !love to try a triatlon bike. I've always been wondering why they make them so differently to road bikes? What makes the difference when racing on a road bike or on a triathlon bike?

Now, that I'm here... I don't know if you've seen my previous message about activities on Strava not being picked up by @strava2hive ? I've been tagging #strava2hive and @run.vince.run so that you'd see it. This week I'm having the same issue:

From these 8 activities, only 5 got picked up: The one on THU, the swim on SAT and the swim on SUN have not been taken into account by #strava2hive....
The last one was a swim in open water and I just ahve been writiing the comment so it's possible that it zould be picked up later, but I don't think so since the problem appears when I'm downloading more than 1 activity to Strava. (And today I did 2 again) + at the open water swim I've registred a 0m distance, which were in reality about 500m and when I've been doing the same distance at the same place last year I did get (non-accurate) distances registered... I don't know what happened here...

Could you take a look into the loop of picking up earlier activities for me please? !HUG
